TRACK RACING COMPETENCE
It is expected that all riders presenting for track competition will be competent in track craft, skills and protocols and have at least a working knowledge of the rules of track cycling rules [technical regulations] and CA Code of Conduct.
Coaches are to ensure that these requirements are met before recommending their charges present for competition. The Chief Commissaire at any meeting can order that a rider from any category undergo an independent assessment before their next track entry.
UNSATISFACTORY PERFORMANCE
All riders in all events are expected to make every effort to win that event. Commissaires will not accept unsatisfactory performance and may impose penalties.
SCRATCHINGS
Riders are to contest every event they or their Grade has been programmed for. The practice of riders selecting which event they will or will not contest will not be accepted. Riders unable to continue contesting the programmed events, will advise the Chief Commissaire of his/her reason for scratching. Frivolous scratching may attract penalties.
LEAVING THE ARENA
Junior riders wishing to leave the arena [toilet breaks, etc] are to advise a Commissaire their intension, before leaving and again on their return.
JUNIOR EQUIPMENT
For all junior categories up to and including JM17 -JW17 the following equipment restrictions apply for track competitions.
1. Standard triangular frames only may be used. Such frames shall consist of standard tubing of dimensions 80mm maximum and 25mm minimum
2. For all events, wheels must have at least 12 spokes. Construction of the rim shall exclude the use of composite fibres [Carbon, Kevlar, Aramid etc]
3. Only ‘high pressure’ detachable tyres and tubes are to be used. Such ‘high pressure’ tyres shall be beaded
HANDLEBARS EXTENSIONS [AERO-BARS]
Bolt on handle bar extensions will be allowed only for the individual pursuit, team pursuit and time trials. For all ‘confrontational’ contests and group training practices, standard or’ Classic’ style handlebars must be fitted.
MINIMUM ENTRIES
A race event may be cancelled or recatagorised if the Commissaires deem there are inadequate starters to make a meaningful contest. Championships may be cancelled or modified if there are less than four starters.
COMBINED CATAGORIES
It may be deemed appropriate from time to time to combine Junior and Senior riders in the one event. On these occasions the Junior gear limitations still apply.
HEAD OR NECK INJURY
Any rider who has sustained a head, neck or facial injury will not be permitted to continue racing. The rider must provide a medical certificate before racing again.
DARK GLASSES
The wearing of dark glasses is not permitted at any time during racing or training on an indoor velodrome. On an outdoor velodrome, such eyewear is forbidden once the track lighting has been turned on. Not withstanding this rule, personally prescribed lenses and very lightly tinted ‘light enhancing’ glasses may be condoned.
